Keyboard Shortcuts

MsgFiler 4 has a number of keyboard shortcuts to make you efficient at filing messages from the keyboard. There are also special keys you can press when focused on the MsgFiler 4 search field or the mailboxes table.

Starting in MsgFiler 4.1.0, you can now customize many of these shortcuts. Learn more in Keyboard Shortcut Settings.

General

These keyboard shortcuts are available when any window of MsgFiler 4 is frontmost.

MsgFiler Window

These keyboard shortcuts are only available when focused on the MsgFiler 4 window.

Control-N	⌃N	Move to the next mailbox
Shift-Command-N	⇧⌘N	Create a new mailbox
Control-Option-Command-N	⌃⌥⌘N	Create a new top-level mailbox
Command-O	⌘O	Opens the currently selected mailbox
Shift-Command-O	⇧⌘O	Opens the currently selected mailbox in a new window

Control-P	⌃P	Move to the previous mailbox

Control-Option-Command-S	⌃⌥⌘S	Toggles restrict search to selected accounts
Shift-Command-U	⇧⌘U	Toggles read status of selected messages	1

Search Field

These hot keys and keyboard shortcuts work when your cursor is in the search field of the MsgFiler 4 window.

Mailboxes Table

These hot keys and keyboard shortcuts work when focus is on the Mailboxes Table in the MsgFiler 4 window.

Command-Right	⌘→	Tries to expand the conversation in Mail	1, 2, 3
Numbers 0-9	0-9	Select the mailbox at the given row.	4

Additional Notes

1. Requires the MsgFiler Filing Script.

2. Focus is returned to MsgFiler 4 after running.

3. User must lift the command key after pressing for Mail to recognize the collapse command.

4. 1 is the first item and 0 is the 10th item.

5. Does nothing if the mailbox is not in the Favorites list.

6. Does nothing if the mailbox is already in the Favorites list.
